Safety for all, every day

The Brussels Fire Brigade is at your service 24/7. Our mission: to save lives, prevent risks and act quickly and effectively in emergencies. Whether it’s a house fire, a road accident, a medical emergency or a large-scale disaster, our teams are ready.

Our core tasks

  • Firefighting
    We fight fires in homes, buildings, vehicles and public spaces on a daily basis. We protect people, animals, property and the environment.
  • Emergency medical services
    Our ambulance crews are often the first on site. They provide first aid and ensure safe transport to hospital.
  • Technical rescue
    From floods to road accidents and rescue operations: our teams respond quickly and efficiently to all types of technical emergencies.
  • Risk management and prevention
    We analyse risks in the urban environment, provide safety advice, carry out inspections and raise public awareness – with particular attention to vulnerable groups.

Local presence, regional mission

Our fire stations are located throughout the region, with our headquarters on Helihavenlaan. From there, we coordinate dozens of daily interventions across the 19 Brussels municipalities.

We work closely with other emergency services, local authorities and regional institutions. In large-scale incidents, we also take part in Belgium’s multidisciplinary crisis management system.

The Brussels Fire Brigade serves all residents, commuters, visitors, schools, businesses and institutions in the Brussels Region. We communicate and provide services with respect for the multilingual, diverse and urban reality of our capital.
