Clone of Artificial Intelligence at the heart of two conferences organised by Paradigm!

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making its way into our daily lives, and into our businesses in particular. The questions it raises are on a par with its disruptive potential.

Paradigm organised two conferences and debates on Artificial Intelligence in March 2025 to find out more about this crucial subject.

Spotlight on these inspiring conferences!

Internal conference for Paradigm employees hosted by Nicolas Van Zeebroeck

In order to inspire Paradigm employees about the challenges of AI in their work and missions, the Digital Transformation (DT) team organised an exclusive panel discussion on ‘The impact of AI in the public sector’ with Professor Nicolas Van Zeebroeck.

Nicolas Van Zeebroeck is Professor of Economics and Digital Strategy at ULB and Solvay Business School, a member of the Conseil Supérieur pour l'Emploi, and co-founder of FARI. In this capacity, he was involved in drawing up the Brussels-Capital Region's AI strategy.

As AI is gradually integrated into our professional tools, it has the potential to radically transform the digital transition of public services. Paradigm is in the front line here.

During his talk, Nicolas Van Zeebroeck addressed the question of the impact of AI on employment in the public sector.

  • Will the machine kill jobs, or on the contrary create new ones?
  • Will AI enable us to achieve the productivity gains it promises?
  • To what extent will AI transform our existing jobs?

Conference ‘AI, what ethics, what impact?’ led by Louis de Diesbach

Louis de Diesbach is a technical ethicist and consultant. A graduate of the Solvay Brussels School and holder of a Master's degree in Ethics and Philosophy, he works regularly with media such as L'Écho, La Libre Belgique and Le Temps. The author of two books, Liker sa servitude (2023) and Bonjour ChatGPT (2024), he is interested in how technology shapes our values and behaviour.

During this conference, co-organised by Paradigm, Bruxelles Environnement, Hub.brussels and ISIT-BE, he shed light on the ethical and societal challenges of AI. He reminded us that technology is never neutral, but that it conveys a certain vision of the world. Far from any technophobia or technosolutionism, he stressed the need for each and every one of us to take ownership of AI and challenge its uses so as ‘not to leave technology to the technicians’.

An organisation that wishes to adopt AI responsibly will, for example, take care to:

  • identify and deal with algorithmic biases
  • use AI in line with its values, by ensuring clear governance
  • make its employees aware of the various issues at stake (ethical, social and environmental)
  • set up trans-disciplinary ethics committees to provide a framework for use...

According to Louis de Diesbach, the question that must preoccupy us is that of meaning. What values, what social project do we want AI to embody?

Thank you to the speakers for these inspiring talks!
