Finding innovation underground between Brussels, Tallinn and Helsinki!
In collaboration with FARI ULB, the University of Liège, the cities of Tallinn and Helsinki and External linkTalTech researchers, Paradigm is preparing the submission of the TreeRoot innovation project, due at the end of April 2025, as part of the External linkFinEst Centre for Smart Cities' City Challenge 2024 call for projects.
A European project in the field of digital twins*, TreeRoot aims to develop a model of tree root systems: an unprecedented step forward in urban management, which, going forward, would enable us to take into account these elements living and growing underground, and not just the inert elements found there (pipes, fibre cables, buildings, etc.).
Along with five other projects, TreeRoot passed the previous selection round in June 2024. Four projects will be chosen in the final selection in spring 2025.
If TreeRoot is selected, it will benefit from two years of funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and a launch date in late 2025 to bring the project to life in the cities of Tallinn, Helsinki and Brussels.
