be.brussels celebrates 2 years: a portal for all Brussels residents
The be.brussels regional portal is celebrating its second anniversary. Launched on 14 October 2023, as part of the Regional Web Strategy (RWS), this digital one-stop-shop was designed by Paradigm in partnership with easy.brussels. The portal is not only a key stage in the transformation of Brussels' institutional digital landscape but also embodies the strong commitment to simplify access to public information for all Brussels residents.
Resulting from the simple observation that, with over 200 sites, the public web offering was overly fragmented, be.brussels meets a clear need to provide a single, coordinated entry point, accessible to Brussels citizens, businesses and administrations.
Today, the portal brings together 14 thematic families, covering key areas such as External linksecurity and prevention, External linkinternational and Europe and External linkfinance. Major administrations in the Brussels ecosystem - External linkBrussels Fiscality, External linkBrussels Mobility and External linkBrussels Housing - have joined the project, confirming its pivotal role. By the end of the year, External linktalent.brussels is also set to be included on the platform.
The portal is now attracting over 130,000 unique visitors every month and has recorded over 1,749,000 visits since it was launched.
Improving the user experience is fundamental to the project with features such as navigation through the various themes, an optimised search engine, accessible content and clear data visualisation. The portal has also been awarded the AnySurfer certification, tangible proof of its commitment to accessibility.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2026, with all thematic content being published online. The ambition remains the same: to provide an ever-richer, more inclusive portal that keeps pace with evolving digital practices.
