Getting an accreditation as an impact assessment office
The impact assessment officer conducts assessments and must be accredited, possessing expertise in various scientific disciplines.

The impact assessment officer is the natural or legal person, public or private, who carries out the impact assessment (Articles 58 bis A, 58 bis C, 111A and 111 F of the Ordinance of 29 August 1991 relating to planning and urban development and Articles 26 and 42 of the Ordinance of 5 June 1997 relating to environmental permits).
In order to be accredited as an impact assessment officer, any natural or legal person must have expertise in the following scientific disciplines:
- human health
- fauna and flora
- soil
- underground water
- surface water
- air
- noise
- spatial planning, urban development and real estate
- socio-economic areas
- mobility
- energy
The application will be submitted to the following administrations for their opinion
- Brussels Mobility (AED) for transport, traffic and parking issues
- Urban Planning and Housing Administration (AATL), Directorate of Urban Planning for issues related to planning and urban development
- AATL, Monuments and Sites Directorate for aspects related to heritage protection
- Brussels Economy and Employment for aspects related to economic development
- Brussels Environment for aspects related to the environment.
The Government issues the accreditation taking into account, in particular, the items contained in the application and the opinions received.
