Housing Framework

To support the municipalities in fulfilling their missions, Brussels Housing provides a subsidy to help recruit housing advisors. These advisors play a key role in coordination, cross-functional collaboration and provide expertise.

Housing advisors ensure good coordination and follow-up of contracts by identifying stakeholders involved in achieving objectives, managing relationships between different services and broadening their knowledge of other relevant professions and fields. While the advisor does not hold the final technical responsibility, they do oversee technical issues by liaising with the appropriate services.

Drawing on their extensive on-the-ground experience, advisors also play a cross-functional role by informing the Region about actions taken at the local level and proposing solutions to issues that arise during the execution of emergency plan actions.

With a diverse skill set, housing advisors are part of a vast network, where they work closely with various stakeholders involved in housing. Their deep understanding and local experience allow them to act as experts, providing solutions based on real-world situations.

The advisors meet monthly to share their experiences in the field, discuss problems, exchange information on new procedures and propose best practices. This collaborative dynamic leads to the development of models that can be applied on a larger scale.

Depending on the agenda, experts in their field are invited to bring a more technical perspective to the discussions, enabling advisors to return to their municipalities with concrete answers.

Introduction of the housing advisors

Following the signing of the housing contracts, 9 advisors are now fully active in their role. They are committed to sharing their knowledge and experience to improve housing conditions for the residents in their municipalities.
