Assistance for homeless individuals
The Opens in new windowEuropean Federation of National Organisations Working with the Homeless (FEANTSA) defines rooflessness as individuals living rough and people in emergency accommodation and houselessness as people living in different types of accommodation for the homeless. However, there is no universally accepted definition.

Everyday assistance

This guide provides information about urgent medical assistance, health insurance, material and/or financial assistance, appealing in the event of a PCSW refusal, useful addresses, etc.

- Opens in new windowBruxelles Social, the bilingual, interactive social map of the Brussels-Capital Region, provides access to all services intended for homeless individuals (guidance, shelter, hygiene, meals and medical care).
- The Opens in new windowreference address is an address that allows certain individuals who do not live or do not have a permanent residence in Belgium to have a contact address in a Belgian municipality. The reference address is purely "administrative".
Accommodation
- Opens in new windowSamusocial is responsible for emergency accommodation.
- Some social rental agencies provide temporary accommodation with accompanied reintegration programmes, but for a limited period.

- The relocation allowance is granted to certain individuals transitioning out of a homeless situation.

There are various forms of assistance and support available for people with disabilities:

- The relocation allowance is granted to certain tenants who are moving from non-adapted housing to housing that has been adapted to their disability.
Assistance for Ukrainian nationals with temporary protection
The war in Ukraine is having major repercussions across Europe, including in the Brussels-Capital Region. The resulting humanitarian crisis has led to an unprecedented influx of Ukrainian refugees.
