Centres de Référence
Bearing in mind the lack of suitable candidates for jobs in certain sectors in Brussels the Government of the Region firmly supports the work of the Centres de Référence. These have been set up to get the inhabitants of Brussels into work by providing complementary training or a chance to retrain and learn new skills, in close association with representatives of the sector in question.
The network is built on a partnership between employment and training providers and employer representatives.
There are five Centres de Référence in the Brussels-Capital Region.
Construction (CDR)
The Centre de Référence de la Construction (CDR) is cofounded by the regional public authorities and the private sector. It works with the building sector, Actiris, Bruxelles-Environnement and the Brussels training bodies to improve the employment opportunities of jobseekers and improve the qualifications and knowledge of construction personnel in the Region. The CDR runs courses on safety, insulation, airtightness and more.

It was created on the initiative of the Brussels-Capital Region, Actiris, VDAB, Horeca Formation Bruxelles and Bruxelles Formation, based on the results of a study by the Observatoire bruxellois du Marché du Travail et des Qualifications to observe and analyse the employment and training needs of the hospitality sector.
Metalworking and technology (IRIS TECH+)
IRIS TECH+, the first Centre de Référence created in Brussels, is managed by the following partners:
- FRM Bruxelles (regional fund promoting the employment of metal workers in Brussels managed by the social partners MWB/FGTB, CSC METEA and AGORIA)
- Bruxelles Formation
- VDAB
- Actiris
- The Minister of employment of the Brussels-Capital Region.
ITC (Evoliris)
Evoliris promotes ITC occupations and training, essentially in the Brussels-Capital Region. The Evoliris online database is a great starting point for employees, jobseekers and students in the search for courses that meet the needs of businesses in the ICT sector.
For more information about Evoliris see the Regional bodies section of this website.
Transport & Logistics (IRIS-TL)
The site of the IRIS-TL professional training centre along the canal in Anderlecht offers training as forklift truck operators and warehouse staff to jobseekers looking for a job in the transport sector, through such training bodies as Actiris and Bruxelles Formation.
