Bruxelles-Propreté
Bruxelles-Propreté is tasked with keeping the public spaces clean and tidy, as well as waste collection and management in the Brussels-Capital Region. It also organises prevention and awareness campaigns on waste, recycling and similar matters.
Waste collection and management
- Bruxelles-Propreté organises the collection of sorted waste in blue (Plastic bottles and flasks, Metal packaging, Drink cartons), yellow (paper and cardboard), orange (foodwaste) and green (garden waste) bags for recycling purposes.
- Bruxelles-Propreté provides a door-to-door collection service for unsorted household waste in white Bruxelles-Propreté bags (available in supermarkets, in most DIY shops and convinience stores).
- Schools, apartment blocks and communities may be eligible for waste containers for sorted and non-sorted waste, which Bruxelles-Propreté empties.
- You are entitled to one free collection of 3 m³ per year and per household for bulky household waste (furniture, household appliances, ornaments…). Information and appointments can only be made by telephone on 0800/ 981.81 (no online appointments). When making an appointment by telephone, you must state the number of m³ to be collected, the type of waste to be collected, the number of construction bags and your national register number. Please note, the minimum quantity for the removal of a lorry is 1m³.
- Bruxelles-Propreté manages a network of waste collection points, including the PROXY CHIMIK for household chemical waste, the Container parks and the bottle banks.
- Bruxelles-Propreté also organises Christmas trees collections.
- As well as collection, Bruxelles-Propreté also provides recycling and processing services.
- Bruxelles-Propreté manages the Recypark of the Brussels Region to allow residents to deposit their bulky waste there.
Did you know?
On average, every inhabitant of the Brussels-Capital Region produces 1kg of waste a day. With this in mind, Bruxelles-Propreté runs campaigns to raise awareness among citizens of the importance of reducing waste and recycling more.
Clean streets
Combatting fly-tipping (illegal waste dumping) is another task of Bruxelles-Propreté, as is graffiti removal and other cleaning services based on specific requests from citizens.

- Bruxelles-Propreté has produced a waste prevention and management plan in association with Bruxelles Environnement.
- Bruxelles-Propreté works to raise awareness among the inhabitants of Brussels on cleanliness, waste and recycling issues.
