Two Cycling Facilities of Brussels Mobility Receive a Bikes in Brussels Award

This year, an independent jury selected six projects for the quality of their design and their contribution to the development of cycling. Two projects delivered by Brussels Mobility each received an award of €200,000.

The C203 cycle highway receives an award

The first award-winning project is the section of the C203 cycle highway between Avenue des Communautés and the Inner Ring Road.

Originally installed as a temporary facility during the Covid period, this route has since been transformed into a permanent, high-quality cycling connection. Thanks to a new surface, improved connections and a better separation between cyclists and motor traffic, it now offers a safer and more comfortable journey. The cycle highway is an important link between Brussels and the Flemish periphery.

The A12 pedestrian and cycle bridge also recognised

The A12 pedestrian and cycle bridge was also among the award winners.

As a key link on the C28 cycle highway between Brussels and Boom, the bridge allows cyclists and pedestrians to bypass a particularly busy and complex roundabout. It significantly improves safety and comfort and forms part of the wider transformation of the A12 into an urban boulevard with greater focus on active mobility and quality of life.

Support for new cycling projects

In total, more than €1 million was awarded to the six winning projects. The funding will support new initiatives that promote cycling and contribute to a healthier, more pleasant and more liveable Brussels.

Launched in 2025, the Bikes in Brussels Awards highlight existing cycling facilities that are already open to the public. The awards aim to showcase best practices and encourage further investment in high-quality cycling infrastructure.

This double recognition acknowledges the efforts of Brussels Mobility to continue developing a safe, comfortable and efficient cycling network for all users.
