Place de la Duchesse de Brabant and chaussée de Ninove

In study

The Chaussée de Ninove in Molenbeek will be remodelled from facade to facade between the Quai de Mariemont, the Place de la Duchesse de Brabant and the Gare de l'Ouest. The Place de la Duchesse de Brabant will be redeveloped in a high-quality, greener way.

Studies began in early 2023 and a participation process began in June 2023.

The project's ambitions

  • Feasibility study for a cycle path in the ‘city exit’ direction
  • Revegetation of the chaussée de Ninove and the Place de la Duchesse de Brabant
  • High-quality landscaping
  • Special attention to deliveries, parking, public transport stops and the quality of life in the surrounding area
  • The project will be part of the necessary renewal of the tram tracks in 2026-2027. At the same time, it aims to improve the commercial speed of trams and buses.

Next steps

  • Following the public participation phase, the design team is currently carrying out further research and studies.
  • According to the current timetable, a preliminary design will be submitted to the relevant public authorities in early 2025. Once the preliminary design has been approved, an application for planning permission will be submitted.
  • As part of the public enquiry, we are organising an information market where you will be able to consult the project and ask questions directly to the project team.
