Chaussée de Ninove

Permit issued

Redevelopment of the Chaussée de Ninove between the Mettewie/Prince de Liège intersection and the regional boundary

This project involves the facade-to-facade redevelopment of the chaussée de Ninove, between the regional boundary and boulevard Mettewie. Today, the public space is in poor condition and lacks quality. What's more, the street is not greened. It needs a facelift.

Comfort and safety

The pavements will be resurfaced and widened, and safe pedestrian crossings will be created along pedestrian routes and at school entrances. Separate, safe cycle paths will be created on either side of the carriageway. The roadway will be resurfaced and will continue to have 2x2 lanes, or sometimes more, particularly at junctions. A bus-only lane is also planned for the approach to the Mettewie crossroads.

Trees

Three rows of trees are planned: one in the central area and two between the parking spaces. By making the ground permeable, rainwater infiltration will be encouraged in order to address flooding problems.

Parking

Attention has been paid to preserving the necessary parking spaces and facilitating access to local businesses. However, the number of parking spaces will be reduced in order to meet road safety requirements for all, to allow for tree planting, and to provide delivery zones and cycle parking.
