Road taxes
Brussels Fiscality is responsible for collecting the road tax and the tax on entry into service, which apply to the use of public roads by motor vehicles.

Who has to pay these taxes?
All Brussels owners of a motor vehicle or trailer pay:
- The annual road tax.
- An additional road tax if the vehicle runs on LPG.
- The tax on entry into service when a new or used road vehicle is put into service.
What is the amount of these taxes?
The amount of the tax depends on several factors: vehicle type, engine power, maximum authorised mass of vehicle or trailer, vehicle age, fuel type. Find all the rates on MyTax: Opens in new windowclick here.
Is it necessary to make a declaration?
Brussels Fiscality send the tax bills for the tax on entry into service and the road tax automatically based on the Opens in new windowVehicle Registration Service (DIV) data. However, a declaration is required for some specific vehicles such as trucks, tractors, buses, etc.

What are the exemptions?
Certain categories of vehicles are exempt from the road tax and/or the tax on entry into service: vehicles used for personal purposes by people with disabilities, taxis, agricultural vehicles, test vehicles, etc.
How can you update your information?
In the case of a vehicle change, license plate deregistration, or modification of one of the characteristics on your registration certificate, you must complete the necessary steps directly with the Opens in new windowDIV.
