Belgian road vignette
From 1 May 2027, certain vehicles will need a digital road vignette on Belgian motorways and regional roads. The rules and practical arrangements are still being developed. This page will therefore be updated regularly.

Why a Belgian road vignette?
With the Belgian road vignette, both Belgian and foreign drivers contribute to the maintenance of the Belgian road network.
Please note: the Belgian road vignette is separate from the Brussels External linkroad taxes, the External linkLow Emission Zone (LEZ) and the External linkkilometre charge for trucks. These remain in place. A valid road vignette does not give you access to the Low Emission Zone and does not count as payment of your road taxes.
When is a road vignette required?
The road vignette is required for motor vehicles that:
- have at least four wheels.
- have a maximum authorised mass of 3.5 tonnes or less.
- use Belgian regional roads or motorways, including ring roads. Based on the information currently available, you do not need a road vignette if you only use local roads.
The requirement applies to vehicles with Belgian and foreign number plates.
Examples of vehicles that require a road vignette:
- Passenger cars
- Light commercial vehicles and vans
- Motorhomes
How much will the road vignette cost?
The price depends on:
- The Euro emission standard of the vehicle.
- The validity period of the road vignette.
| Validity | Euro 0 to 3 | Euro 4 and above | Zero emission vehicles |
| 1 day | €11.25 | €9 | €8.10 |
| 10 days | €15 | €12 | €10.80 |
| 1 month | €23.75 | €19 | €17.10 |
| 2 months | €37.50 | €30 | €27 |
| 1 year | €125 | €100 | €90 |
Please note: these prices may change as the legislation is still being finalised.
How to buy a road vignette?
Road vignettes will be sold exclusively online through the official website or an authorised partner organisation.
The official website is expected to launch in spring 2027. According to current plans, road vignettes will be available from 2 April 2027.
How will the road vignette work?
- The road vignette is fully digital. No sticker is required.
- The vignette is linked to the vehicle's number plate.
- The person in whose name the number plate is registered must buy the road vignette.
