International solidarity and global citizenship education
Brussels International supports numerous projects aimed at developing international solidarity within its own territory, as well as fostering a citizenship that is more open to the world.
Brussels International organises a number of initiatives, including: a call for projects “NORTH”, a platform of Brussels-based international solidarity players and a campaign to make the Brussels-Capital Region a fair trade region.
Call for projects "NORTH"
This call for projects, created in 2017, supports Belgian associations that encourage young Brussels citizens aged 12 to 25 to become committed and solidary citizens across borders. This is aimed at youngsters of all identities, backgrounds and ethnic, cultural and social origins.
The supported activities must:
- be organised in the Brussels-Capital Region,
- contribute to achieving the Opens in new windowSustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to global citizenship and solidarity,
- strengthen the knowledge, interpersonal skills and know-how (technical skills) of the young participants.
The organisations selected in each edition, as well as the projects funded and the amounts awarded, can be viewed below.
