Enterprises wishing to carry out the regulated activities of butcher - delicatessen must first prove their professional competence. 

Proof of professional competence is provided by the natural person who carries out the daily technical management of the regulated activities. The entrepreneur applies for the license and provides the proof of professional competence to Brussels Economy and Employemt. After obtaining the license, registration with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises can be requested at an accredited business counter. 

The professional competence can be demonstrated in two different ways: 

  • A qualification or diploma related to the regulated activities.
  • Valid professional experience of 3 years (full-time) or 4 years (part-time). 

Citizens of a Member State of the European Economic Area (European Union, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) or of Switzerland may also prove their professional competence in application of the rights conferred on them under European Directive 2005/36 on the recognition of professional qualifications, as transposed by the Royal Decree of 17 August 2007.
