Pre-emptive rights zones

Under the Brussels Land Management Code (French acronym: CoBAT) various public authorities can be granted a pre-emptive right.

The pre-emptive right is exercised in the public interest, particularly in the case of neglected buildings that are not fit for habitation, with a view to increasing the social housing stock.
