Employee formalities and management

Businesses have obligations, such as employer social security contributions, and formalities to complete when hiring staff and in their day-to-day human resources management.

  • The website of the External linkNational Social Security Office (ONSS) - (FR/NL) provides services to employers, enabling them to fulfil some obligations online. As an employer, you have a number of obligations:
    • when you hire staff
    • during their employment
    • at the end of their employment.
  • Via the helpline 1819 you can obtain information and advice on the various aspects of hiring and training staff (formalities, contract, costs, social charges, etc.).
  • The Federal Public Service Employment, Labour and Social Dialogue provides information on External linklaws governing the terms and conditions of employment (FR/NL): rules on working hours, employer and employee obligations, contracts and special regulations for young workers.

Social secretariats for employers

You can delegate time-consuming and recurring administrative obligations to a social secretariat, which is a rich source of information, advice and support with respect to all payroll matters.
