MyBike : anti-theft
mybike.belgium.be is the bike registration platform of the Belgian federal government and its three regions.
On this platform, you can register your bike and receive a sticker in order to identify it, with the aim of reducing the risk of theft and the handling of stolen goods and recover your bike more easily.
Moreover, you can also gather all important details about your bike on mybike.belgium.be, such as the frame number, pictures and the purchase invoice, so that in case of a theft you may quickly find all the right information toExternal link report to the police. When your bike is stolen, you can also report this on the mybike platform. This information will be on display for potential buyers, making the resale of stolen bikes more difficult.
Whenever the police finds a bike with a mybike sticker on it, it will contact the helpdesk, which - in strict observance of the GDPR - can request the owner’s details in order to return the bike. Even if someone tries to remove the sticker, the bike can still be found in the mybike database.
Thanks to the cooperation between mybike and the police, more bikes are returned to their rightful owners.
