Moving house

Are you moving? In most cases, you will use a moving van to do so, which takes up space on the public road.  

Please note that you must comply with a number of requirements when doing so. You must guarantee a clear passage for emergency services. This passage varies depending on the size of the occupied space: 

• is the occupied space shorter than 20 metres? Then you must leave a clear passage at least 3 metres wide
• is the occupied space between 20 and 50 metres? Then you must leave a clear passage at least 3.5 metres wide
• is the occupied space longer than 50 metres? Then you must leave a clear passage at least 4 metres wide  

You can’t guarantee the aforementioned passages? Then you must seek the advice of the fire brigade.  

When you’re moving house and obstructing the public road, and cannot guarantee a clear passage, you must seek advice from the fire brigade. How? 

Send an e-mail to Opens in new windowplans-plannen@firebru.brussels with the following information: 

1. The Osiris-number of the file and the relevant phase number.
2. A signalisation plan (overview of traffic signs and signalisation).
3. A mobility cross-section (overview of passage and obstacles).
4. If necessary: a traffic diversion plan.
