New regulations in Brussels. Get well informed before you sign.

With approximately 60% of Brussels residents renting their homes, the impact of the reform of the regulations governing tenancy agreements (which came into force on 1 January 2018) cannot be overestimated. The regionalisation of this policy area under the 6th State Reform has enabled the Brussels-Capital Region to bring these regulations better in line with the reality of today’s Brussels: a multicultural and socio-economic diverse community, dense urbanisation, a considerable student population, the emergence of new forms of residential lease such as joint tenancy, etc.

The new regulations aim to make the rental market clearer and more transparent, and allow to better realise the right to adequate housing.
