Large urban projects

Créer de grands chantiers de rénovation urbaine au profit de l'ensemble des Bruxellois et dans le respect de différents axes du développement.

Within the framework of the Regional Sustainable Development Plan (FR/NL)External link, the Brussels-Capital Region envisages the establishment of large urban renewal projects for the benefit of all inhabitants of Brussels, with due respect for various development focal points. The main challenges facing the authorities are the need to reduce social and territorial inequalities, strengthen social cohesion through the construction of housing and infrastructure, improve mobility and highlight the Region’s international assets.

Blueprints

Large urban projects (FR/NL) will be pursued in strategic zones, such as the EU district, Tour & Taxis, Schaerbeek-Formation, the neighbourhood around Brussels-Midi station and Mont des Arts. These strategic zones are listed on the website of perspective.brussels. They are also shown on the map of the Administration de l'Aménagement du Territoire et du Logement: www.brugis.beExternal link.

Large international projects

Development projects connected with the international vocation of the Brussels-Capital Region are an integral part of the Region’s revitalisation. These projects are listed in the International Development Plan. They include the establishment of such international-scale infrastructure as a conference centre, a shopping centre, a large auditorium and a multifunctional stadium, which will be integrated into the strategic zones alongside housing and new facilities.
