Public hygiene and waste management

We currently produce three times the waste we produced in 1950. To manage these waste flows and keep Brussels clean, Bruxelles-Propreté is mainly responsible for public hygiene in the Brussels-Capital Region.

Find out about waste collection days for your street and the special waste collection servicesExternal link at the Bruxelles-Propreté website.

Bruxelles-Propreté also shares its expertise with businesses of all sizes.

Small, medium or large, see the Waste Management page in the business and the environment section.

Waste collection in the communes

Some Brussels communes also collect bulky waste or run container parks. Contact your commune’s environmental service for more information.

Recycling services

Social economy enterprises reuse textiles, bulky waste, electrical and electronic waste. The Brussels-Capital Region subsidises five authorised social economy enterprises: Les Petits Riens, La Poudrière, Salvation Army, Terre and Oxfam-Solidarité. They help give a second life to more than 75% of the waste they collect.

For more information on these social economy enterprises (FR/NL)External link visit the website of Bruxelles Environnement.
