Federal elections

For the federal elections, the 150 members of the Chamber of Representatives are elected. The 60 members of the Senate are not directly elected, but are elected, inter alia, by the members of the parliaments of the communities and regions.

The Federal Parliament is elected for five years, except in the case of early federal elections. You can read all about the federal elections on the website of the federal governmentExternal link.

In Belgium, the elections of the regional parliaments, the Federal Chamber of Representatives and the European Parliament are organised simultaneously every five years.
