On foot
Brussels on foot: encouraging walking is one of the Regional Government’s priorities.
Encouraging walking is one of the Brussels Government’s mobility priorities. With this in mind, various initiatives have been launched to make walking more attractive in Brussels.
In a capital that always suffers from unbearable road congestion during rush hour, you can sometimes cover more ground on foot in a quarter of an hour than in a car! Today, walking is a credible alternative to motorised modes of transport. And, like the bike, it is a healthy and environmentally friendly way of getting around.
The Brussels-Capital Region is currently developing a pedestrian plan to encourage walking in the region and make it a convenient option. Important points in the plan are the improvement of urban facilities, pedestrian safety and recommendations for users.
