Brussels regional elections
At the elections for the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region, 89 Members of Parliament will be elected, including
- 72 for the French-speaking language group
- 17 for the Dutch-speaking language group
As soon as the elections are over, the parties represented in the regional parliament shall begin negotiations with a view to forming a sufficient parliamentary majority in order to form the new regional government.
The Brussels regional elections are also an opportunity to appoint
- the 19 Brussels representatives in the Parliament of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels, by indirect suffrage. These representatives are appointed by the French-speaking Brussels Members of Parliament from within their midst.
- the 6 Brussels representatives in the Flemish Parliament, by direct suffrage of the voters who vote on a list of the Dutch language group for the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region.
In addition, the representatives elected to the Brussels regional parliament also sit
- in the Assembly of the French-speaking Community Commission (FR) for the elected representatives of the French-speaking language group
- in the Assembly of the Flemish Community Commission (NL) for the elected representatives of the Dutch-speaking language group
- in the Joint Assembly of the Common Community Commission (FR/NL) for the elected representatives of the two language groups.
