Brussels regional elections

At the elections for the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region, 89 Members of Parliament will be elected, including

  • 72 for the French-speaking language group
  • 17 for the Dutch-speaking language group

As soon as the elections are over, the parties represented in the regional parliament shall begin negotiations with a view to forming a sufficient parliamentary majority in order to form the new regional government.

The Brussels regional elections are also an opportunity to appoint

  • the 19 Brussels representatives in the Parliament of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels, by indirect suffrage. These representatives are appointed by the French-speaking Brussels Members of Parliament from within their midst.
  • the 6 Brussels representatives in the Flemish Parliament, by direct suffrage of the voters who vote on a list of the Dutch language group for the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region.
