Forest
Territory
Forest commune is located in the southwest of the Brussels-Capital Region, nestled between Uccle to the southeast, Ixelles to the east, Anderlecht to the west and Saint-Gilles to the northeast. A large part of its 6.2 square kilometres is taken up by woodland and parks: Duden, Forest, Forest Abbey, Jacques Brel, Abbé Froidure and Bempt.
Forest’s topography is characterised by a very palpable gradient, rising from west to east. The highest point in Forest around 100 metres above sea level provides one of the finest vistas of Brussels to be found.
The main attractions include several remarkable buildings in the art deco and modern style. From its medieval past Forest retains Saint-Denis church and some buildings testifying to the wealth of its now-gone abbey.
On the edge of the circular road, Forest is also a place of major industry.
The internationally renowned entertainment venue Forest National brings plenty of big names and media attention to the commune.
