The Agency for Parking in the Brussels-Capital Region

logo parking.brussels

parking.brussels is the Agency for Parking in the Brussels-Capital Region. The agency is intended to provide overall coherence to parking policy throughout the Region.

parking.brussels has been created to implement the parking policy in the region and to ensure the functioning of the Regional Parking Policy Plan (PDF Format) (FR-7.93M/NL-7.90M).

parking.brussels has been up and running since January 2014.

Its roles, as set out in the Order of 22 January 2009, include among others:

  • parking policy implementation - notably through providing input on the parking action plans set out by the 19 different communes in Brussels, and contributing to updating the Regional Parking Policy Plan every 5 years
  • organisation, management and supervision of public car parks and park-and-ride facilities in the Brussels Region
  • displaying free parking spaces on illuminated wayfinding signs in real time for public car parks and park-and-ride facilities (driver guidance system)
  • organising parking in private or public car parks outside office hours
  • setting up a wayfinding display system to guide lorries and coaches to free spaces
  • developing bicycle parking facilities, particularly in residential areas
  • setting up a centralised database which can be used by the region and the city's 19 different communes, leading to the creation of a Parking Observatory.

Better parking makes for better mobility

parking.brussels is the region's new management instrument to lighten the load that so much car use places on the city. Its key idea? Better parking makes better mobility.
