Atrium Brussels is the regional agency that coordinates urban investments and the development of shopping neighbourhoods. It encourages new commercial activities in the Brussels-Capital Region while working on improving the Region’s development and the attractiveness of shopping neighbourhoods.

Urban investments

Atrium Brussels encourages inhabitants, shops, owners, local authorities and investors to invest in the city. It works to ensure that the various actors participate in the renovation and revival of their neighbourhood.

Development of shopping neighbourhoods

Atrium Brussels implements a strategy of integrated development for shopping neighbourhoods. All actors and users in a particular neighbourhood come together to draw up a general action plan to enhance the image of their neighbourhood. The partners state all their commitments in the shopping neighbourhood contract. Atrium Brussels branches in the neighbourhoods in question work to bring about interaction between the public authorities and other actors.

Three strategic priorities for neighbourhood development

Creation of activities

Atrium Brussels works to attract new shops to the Region, providing guidance and assistance to direct entrepreneurs to the shopping neighbourhoods that best suit their concept and needs. It also encourages shop modernisations to improve performance.

Spatial development and accessibility

Atrium Brussels improves spatial development in neighbourhoods. It encourages shop clustering to strengthen the image of neighbourhood centres. Atrium promotes social mixing, maximises the interventions of the public services and improves access to neighbourhoods.

Convenience and attractiveness

Atrium Brussels boosts the attractiveness of shopping neighbourhoods by highlighting their assets, constructing an innovative image and taking action to increase footfall. Atrium organises dialogue between safety and clean streets actors.
