Direction de l’Infrastructure des Transports publics

The Direction Infrastructure des Transports Publics at Bruxelles Mobilité manages the development and monitoring of regional public transport infrastructure (metro, pre-metro, bus and tram).
The Direction de l'Infrastructure des Transports publics (DITP, public transport infrastructure directorate) at Bruxelles Mobilité manages the development and monitoring of regional public transport infrastructure (metro, pre-metro, bus and tram).

The Direction de l'Infrastructure des Transports publics (public transport infrastructure directorate, DITP) manages the shell, final completion and all equipment (including escalators, electrical signage) of public transport in Brussels, as well as all artworks. These works are the property of the Brussels-Capital Region, save the rails, which are owned by the Société des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles (STIB, Brussels public transport company).

The DITP is therefore responsible for designing, studying and producing new regional public transport infrastructure. It also monitors repairs, renewals and improvements to existing infrastructure. Additionally, the DITP makes investments to improve the average speed of the overground public tram and bus network (VICOM programme) and to generally improve the overground network to enhance the user experience, especially at stops (ARS programme).

The DITP’s operations are defined in the contractual documents binding the Region and the STIB, which is responsible for the commercial operation and day-to-day management of the network.

Every year, Bruxelles Mobilité carries out the full or partial refurbishment of metro and pre-metro stations as well as the general work on the whole network. One of the current priorities is to optimise accessibility for persons with reduced mobility. All projects currently ongoing or under study are described at www.bruxellesespacespublics.be (FR/NL).
