Brussels Planning and Heritage

Brussels Planning and Heritage is responsible for all matters concerned with urban development in the Brussels-Capital Region.

The aim of Brussels Planning and Heritage (formerly Brussels Urban Development) is to support the territorial development of the Brussels-Capital Region in a sustainable, balanced and coherent manner by means of the following missions:
 

  1. Planning: the monitoring of planning regulations, town planning, the management of development and subdivision permits, the investigation of studies and impact reports, the inspection and sanction of planning infringements and organisation of appeals
  2. The cultural heritage: the study, inventory, protection, restoration and promotion of the cultural heritage (architectural, archaeological, movable, natural and intangible)
  3. Urban renovation: the management of operational programmes focused on urban development and social cohesion.

Brussels Planning and Heritage carries out these missions via 7 operational units:

Brussels Planning and Heritage also ensures the secretariat for two consultative bodies:

  • Royal Commission of Monuments and Site (CRMS)
  • Planning and Environment Panels
